Another Puzzle Ring Design
In an effort to find a puzzle ring design which is somewhat more difficult than the ones I gave previously, I came up with the following design, which is basically the first design of that earlier list with another band added:

____________ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___
            \ / \ / \ / \ / \ /
             \ / \ \ /
_________ / \ / \ / \ / \ / \___
         \ / \ / \ / \ / \ /
          \ / / \ /
______ / \ / \ / \ / \ / \______
      \ / \ / \ / \ / \ /
       / \ / / \
___ / \ / \ / \ / \ / \_________
   \ / \ / \ / \ / \ /
    / \ \ / \
___/ \___/ \___/ \___/ \___/ \____________

The way this one works out is quite beautiful. Usually puzzle ring designs with this amount of crossing and linking get hopelessly braided and can't come apart, or are completely inconsistent about which way the bands want to move, while this one comes apart quite easily and the natural position for all the bands in the fiddling state is quite clear. The difficulty level of this one is completely absurd.

Yeah, I saw the previous post you did on the puzzle rings. I like the design of this one. I checked out the link of the puzzle ring website you provided. Do those rings run around $200-400 because of the design? Or is it because of the material?

This thing might look cool in silver and gold like this one

I like this design too, I think it would look slick with two different colors or even a solid.

The low end puzzle rings tend to be much cheaper, mostly out of price differentiation. The Unity design is quite pretty, but very easy as a puzzle. It can be very difficult to get any sense at all of what a puzzle ring is like to solve without actually handling it though.

To embed ascii art in html in general, use the <pre> tag.

Man how can I have forgotten the "pre" tag? it happens man it happens.. haha anyways this was the one I was trying to describe

________ ___________________ ___________________ ___________
        \ / \ / \ /
         \ \ \
________/ \ ________________/ \ ________________/ \ ________
           \ / \ / \ /
            \ \ \
___________/ \___________________/ \___________________/ \________

I think this could look slick with two different colors like silver top and gold on bottom or vice versa.

I know these are for puzzle rings but these last two designs you made might look pretty cool for a bracelet for the ladies. I think if you were able to put Red rubies and Diamonds in the circles where the dashes --- go into the circles or however mix you like it would have a nice look to it.
___ ___ ___ ___ ___
   \ / \ / \ / \ /
    \ / / \
___/ \ / \___/ \ / \___
      \ / \ /
       \ /
___ / \ ___ / \ ___
   \ / \ / \ / \ /
    \ / / \
___/ \___/ \___/ \___/ \___

and a lower budget one with less rubies and diamonds.
   \ / \ / \ / \ /
    \ \ / /
___/ \___/ \ / \___/ \ ___
            \ / \ /
             \ /
___ ___ / \ ___ / \___
   \ / \ / \ / \ /
    \ \ / /
___/ \___/ \___/ \___/ \______

It could be somewhat affordable for someone if you used home grown rubies(haha isn't that what its called? or lab grown)..or some other stones that are nice but not as expensive. Although yes, I'm a guy, I always liked getting special things for a special girl. It always took me forever because so many designs I see are just too much (in design) I always liked nice, simple designs. Just my thoughts though, I think they look cool.
Take care!
Thanks for the Pre Tag hook up haha Thanks again!

That top one has three bands, not two.

Of the other two, the one you copied first comes apart much more easily, and thus makes a much better puzzle.

Bram, I got an idea for the Bittorrent protocol. I don't know how else to present the idea then to reply here, so I apologize in advance for being off topic.
To my limited knowledge, bittorrent only supports one internet connection which makes the ISP become a bottleneck. What if you could use multiple internet connections to download a file? It would allow people to download anything with the only limiter being the number of connections and NIC's present on their system. To make this possible, the bittorrent client would have to be aware of multiple connections and then equally distribute file segment requests. It would behave much like network load balancing but in reverse order. The file would finally be reconstructed at the client level which would probably be a trivial alteration for multiple connections. What do you think?

Yeah, but who has more than one internet connection? I would say less than .01% of internet users.

that is a good question; I thought about it already. There are two possibilities:
1. You are in a region where there are many unsecured wireless networks and you have multiple wireless cards. (The ethics and legality are questionable)
2. By creating this additional capability, people with one ISP have a new incentive to get a second ISP. Sometimes technology needs to exist before a market exists... this would be a huge win for ISP's since they could sell more then one line per household.

There is 0% correlation between anything I said and anything you said.
